So I am sure if you have a child between the ages of 7-18 you know what the fad is all about. That’s right, fidget spinners! The item that us as adults don’t understand why the heck you’d want to play with one but all the kids want them so your kids have them too!! Well we decided to start making some!
My husband used his CNC machine and milled some out of aluminum and the kids are loving it!! It’s sturdier than the cheap plastic 3d printed or ones that are coming from China. Perfect end of the school year present to keep your kid busy during the summer and maybe help them from saying “I’m bored” every 5 minutes!
These are the same exact sizes as the other spinners, just made of a better quality aluminum product that withstand the test of time. No more replacing these spinners because they break, buy a Michigan made spinner! Most stores are selling out of these, get yours NOW!
I’ve never been one to be able to go a few days without washing my hair. I have to wash it everyday or I know that it’s dirty and I can’t even fathom going out and about with dirty hair, even though it might not look dirty. I’ve struggled for years to have a “hairstyle” because honestly, I’m lazy and a tomboy. If I even blow dry it, sometimes that’s a miracle. My hair is fine, thick and straight.
But I’d like to be able to do some fun, cute hairstyles and I watch all these bloggers and youtube videos but I can never seem to get my hair to do anything remotely like those girls. I like to watch Kate from The Small Things Blog on her YouTube, Facebook Live or her SnapChats but her hair is always so adorable!! I also just don’t give myself time. I enjoy sleeping until the last possible minute, rushing to get in the shower and having time to barely blow dry my hair every morning to get to work by 7-7:30am every day. And then my weekdays are so jam packed with sports from my 2 sons that I just don’t care about my hair/makeup to get up any earlier those days either.
This picture is of me and my mom after 8 months of growing out a BAD haircut. I asked for a graduated bob and got a pixie cut in the back, it was a very sad part of my life that year. It took FOREVER to grow out and even today I’m still just getting slight trims to even it out and just grow it long since it was SO SHORT for so long.
So I’ve tried curling wands, I’d tried to curl it with my straightener, I’ve tried dry shampoo and I’ve tried beach hair sea salt spray. None of which have made me have fabulous hair at all. Maybe it’s the user, maybe it’s because I can’t stand to have dirty hair so my hair isn’t dirty enough to do any of these cute hairstyles. I see some ladies say they haven’t washed their hair in 3-4 days, I’d be itching my head thinking I had lice or something if I didn’t wash my hair that long. I don’t think I’ve ever made it past 1 day of not washing it. Even when we go camping I have to at least take a shower every day, it’s just not in my being to be dirty!
So if you have any hints on helping me learn how to do something cute with my hair, let me know your secrets, because I’d love to learn how to have cute hair and keep my sleep too! 🙂
These next few days here in Michigan, the weather is in the mid 50’s to early 60’s and it feels amazing. We finally have the sun shining after a very dull January and maybe some of this sunshine will help lift some spirits and winter blah moods.
We are in the last month of hockey season, with a practice with the MSU Hockey team under our belts, a shootout game during the MSU/Wisconsin hockey game and a hockey tournament this next weekend. Brody started playoffs last night and he has a busy next few weeks with that finishing up. He plays PeeWee B hockey and loves it!! Caden is on a Squirt B hockey team and it’s his passion right now.
Caden has started indoor baseball practice and Lacrosse has started for Brody although he hasn’t got to do much practices because hockey gets in the way still.
Spring is right around the corner and I can’t wait for the backyard to look like this again! Green grass, pretty flowers and bright sun shining on our backs! We all need a little sunshine now and again. In just a few shorts weeks it will be spring break, and then we will have baseball and lacrosse to sit outside in hopefully warm weather instead of a cold hockey rink.
So who’s into this whole craze of LulaRoe and all their soft leggings and shirts and dresses and skirts and anything else that you can get your hands on! Unicorns and flowers and dogs! Well I’ve come up with the perfect way to keep your husband or kids from shrinking your clothes when they helps out with the laundry. Keep your laundry in a Lula Laundry bag and you’ll be in charge of your fabulous clothes and keeping them looking brand new and fresh! These bags are available to purchase in my Etsy shop with the link below! They are only $12. If your a consultant and would like to order them in bulk for your customers, just message me!
As most of you know, both my kids love sports! And right now we are in the full swing of hockey season with games every weekend and a few during the week! Brody, who is 12, is in PeeWee Hockey and Caden, who is turning 8 next week, is playing Squirt Hockey. They both LOVE the sport and we love watching them play!
We are headed to a Detroit Red Wings hockey game next month. I wanted to be able to go Joe Louis Arena one more time before they open up the new Little Caesars Arena and with our own hockey schedule it was very hard to find a time to go. But we found a date and got our tickets!! I’m so excited because I LOVE going to Hockeytown.
If you’ve never been to a NHL hockey game, you need to go! And if you’ve never been to Hockeytown, you REALLY need to go. Watching an NHL hockey game is like no other professional sport. There is so much action, crowd interaction and it’s just a fun sport to watch. We used to go all the time back when I was in middle school and high school and I LOVED watching the game. I even had a University of Michigan hockey jersey that my parents got me for Christmas one year. And then I met Chris, who grew up playing hockey, and watched him play some, and now my son’s love playing the sport so I’m so glad it’s still in my life!
So I live around the East Lansing area and MSU is big here, I mean BIG! But I’m still a Michigan girl at heart. But when I kept having these ideas for up-cycled dresses in my head, I KNEW that sports themed ones would be BIG hits around here because of our big rivals from sports. So I ordered some fabric, had a few shirts that I had found and made this SUPER cute Michigan State recycled dress made with black and white polka dots! Didn’t it turn out just adorable!
This was a size 2T/3T and I had my friend’s little model try it on for me to make sure the sizing from the pattern was correct. It turned out amazing and doesn’t she look so cute! She’s repping her school with pride with that big ol’ grin!
So I’ll be making a TON more of these in the upcoming months, I just got a bunch more fabric and a lot more shirts to use! I can’t wait to show them off. If you’d be interested in one, go to my Etsy page or my Facebook page and message me! If you have a shirt you’d like me to use, you can send it to me and a custom up-cycled dress can be made for you.
So I’ve had an Etsy business for quite some time and I do lots of fun embroidery and vinyl things. But I’ve wanted to try and make kids clothing for some time now. Well I purchased a serger last month and I’ve made a few things and now that Christmas is over, I’m excited to try some new patterns out!
I made this upcycled dress for my niece and it turned out so great! I found the shirt at a thrift store and went and got some matching fabrics to go along with it and turned it into a cute dress! I found a bunch of other cute shirts at the thrift store that I can’t wait to try and make into cute outfits also.
My mom has been making these cute upcycled scarves for quite a while now and she took a break but lots of people have been asking for them again so she made some more this holiday season.
I’ll be posting what I make on my Facebook page but you can also follow along on my Pinterest page too and see my new ideas as they come to life!
Santa was nice to you this year and brought you an Instant Pot for Christmas this year. I’ve had mine since last year and I love it!! It makes meal time so much easier especially when you want to make real food for your family and not the junk easy fast food you usually have time for. I know what it’s like to have a chaotic lifestyle, I have 2 boys that eat tons and play lots of sports. And with 2 businesses that we run out of our house, sometimes dinner time is not the easiest! I love making hard boiled eggs, potato salad, roast and mashed potatoes in mine! I’ve also made beef n broccoli and a few other yummy things too!!
You can also use your Instant Pot to make desserts. I’ve made homemade cinnamon applesauce and I’ve also made an oreo cheesecake!! This thing is amazing. There are a few recipe pages out there that I read, I also read them on Pinterest and I have some groups on Facebook that I’m on that also help.
