Panera Bread HACK! Passionfruit Papaya Green Tea

Now, we all love Panera Bread, and we love it even more now that their food is clean.  It has no artificial preservatives, sweeteners, flavors or colors from artificial sources.  That makes it even better.  And when your slurping on that bowl of broccoli cheese soup from there, it’s even better than amazing.

But enough about that, I just found a genius hack from Panera Bread!  I had a $10 Panera Bread gift card that I could only use at the store and not online, so I decided that since I usually order online for lunch at work, why not go in and get some of their very yummy Passionfruit Papaya Green Tea and take it home.  I was going to buy the to-go bottles since then I could take it to work and drink it or just sip on it during this wonderful weather we are having!  Well I was checking out and it was like $14 for 5 bottles of tea and the cashier was like wait, I think you can get more for cheaper if you order it through our catering specials.  I was like sure, because I was only taking it home anyways.  She said well I can get you a gallon of the Passionfruit Papaya Green Tea for only $9.99.  I said SOLD!!!  So now I have fresh tea to drink at home and whenever I want and it was way cheaper than the original route I was going for!  Now I’m even considering bringing one of them to work and leaving it in the refrigerator at work so I can have it there too!

If you know me, you know my addiction to Cherry Coke was real.  Well in February after watching a bunch of documentaries about eating whole foods, less meat, more fresh veggies and less bad things, I gave up pop.  It was hard at first, but I don’t even crave it anymore.  But I was struggling with the caffeine part, and now I can have my fix so my afternoons don’t drag anymore!   I had went a few weeks without any caffeine but some nights when we have lots going on with sports for the boys, I need something to carry me through and I am not a huge coffee drinker.  So I think I found my answer, GREEN TEA!!

I had googled how to try and make this tea at home and lots of others had tried too but it wasn’t something that you could really just buy in a store.  So I’m excited to give this a try!!

Also, I was also super excited that a few months ago, I had free bagels for a month! It worked out great, I’d pick one up in the afternoon and eat it for breakfast the next day or my son would grab it on the way to hockey practice on the weekends.  THANKS PANERA BREAD!!

P.S.- I’m still debating on chopping my hair off again.  It’s just not working out for me long, always in a pony tail and giving me a headache.  A graduated bob or a-line bob is more of what is calling my name right now, although wearing a hat in the summer is a nice thing and with short hair, you look like a boy.  Decisions, decisions.

I gotta go wash my hair

I’ve never been one to be able to go a few days without washing my hair.  I have to wash it everyday or I know that it’s dirty and I can’t even fathom going out and about with dirty hair, even though it might not look dirty.  I’ve struggled for years to have a “hairstyle” because honestly, I’m lazy and a tomboy.  If I even blow dry it, sometimes that’s a miracle.  My hair is fine, thick and straight.

But I’d like to be able to do some fun, cute hairstyles and I watch all these bloggers and youtube videos but I can never seem to get my hair to do anything remotely like those girls.  I like to watch Kate from The Small Things Blog on her YouTube, Facebook Live or her SnapChats but her hair is always so adorable!! I also just don’t give myself time.  I enjoy sleeping until the last possible minute, rushing to get in the shower and having time to barely blow dry my hair every morning to get to work by 7-7:30am every day.  And then my weekdays are so jam packed with sports from my 2 sons that I just don’t care about my hair/makeup to get up any earlier those days either.

This picture is of me and my mom after 8 months of growing out a BAD haircut.  I asked for a graduated bob and got a pixie cut in the back, it was a very sad part of my life that year.  It took FOREVER to grow out and even today I’m still just getting slight trims to even it out and just grow it long since it was SO SHORT for so long.

So I’ve tried curling wands, I’d tried to curl it with my straightener, I’ve tried dry shampoo and I’ve tried beach hair sea salt spray.  None of which have made me have fabulous hair at all.  Maybe it’s the user, maybe it’s because I can’t stand to have dirty hair so my hair isn’t dirty enough to do any of these cute hairstyles.  I see some ladies say they haven’t washed their hair in 3-4 days, I’d be itching my head thinking I had lice or something if I didn’t wash my hair that long.  I don’t think I’ve ever made it past 1 day of not washing it.  Even when we go camping I have to at least take a shower every day, it’s just not in my being to be dirty!

So if you have any hints on helping me learn how to do something cute with my hair, let me know your secrets, because I’d love to learn how to have cute hair and keep my sleep too! 🙂

Spring is here for a short visit….let’s enjoy it!

These next few days here in Michigan, the weather is in the mid 50’s to early 60’s and it feels amazing.  We finally have the sun shining after a very dull January and maybe some of this sunshine will help lift some spirits and winter blah moods.

We are in the last month of hockey season, with a practice with the MSU Hockey team under our belts, a shootout game during the MSU/Wisconsin hockey game and a hockey tournament this next weekend.  Brody started playoffs last night and he has a busy next few weeks with that finishing up.  He plays PeeWee B hockey and loves it!! Caden is on a Squirt B hockey team and it’s his passion right now.

Caden has started indoor baseball practice and Lacrosse has started for Brody although he hasn’t got to do much practices because hockey gets in the way still.

Spring is right around the corner and I can’t wait for the backyard to look like this again!  Green grass, pretty flowers and bright sun shining on our backs!  We all need a little sunshine now and again.  In just a few shorts weeks it will be spring break, and then we will have baseball and lacrosse to sit outside in hopefully warm weather instead of a cold hockey rink.

Please stick around warm weather!

Busy hockey time of the year!!

1511199_10100416865660321_7307662002463760309_nAs most of you know, both my kids love sports! And right now we are in the full swing of hockey season with games every weekend and a few during the week!  Brody, who is 12, is in PeeWee Hockey and Caden, who is turning 8 next week, is playing Squirt Hockey.  They both LOVE the sport and we love watching them play!  Detroit_Red_Wings2

We are headed to a Detroit Red Wings hockey game next month.  I wanted to be able to go Joe Louis Arena one more time before they open up the new Little Caesars Arena and with our own hockey schedule it was very hard to find a time to go.  But we found a date and got our tickets!! I’m so excited because I LOVE going to Hockeytown.

If you’ve never been to a NHL hockey game, you need to go!  And if you’ve never been to Hockeytown, you REALLY need to go.  Watching an NHL hockey game is like no other professional sport.  There is so much action, crowd interaction and it’s just a fun sport to watch.  We used to go all the time back when I was in middle school and high school and I LOVED watching the game.  I even had a University of Michigan hockey jersey that my parents got me for Christmas one year.  And then I met Chris, who grew up playing hockey, and watched him play some, and now my son’s love playing the sport so I’m so glad it’s still in my life!

Michigan State Upcycled T-Shirt Dress for little girls!

So I live around the East Lansing area and MSU is big here, I mean BIG! But I’m still a Michigan girl at heart.  But when I kept having these ideas for up-cycled dresses in my head, I KNEW that sports themed ones would be BIG hits around here because of our big rivals from sports.  So I ordered some fabric, had a few shirts that I had found and made this SUPER cute Michigan State recycled dress made with black and white polka dots!  Didn’t it turn out just adorable!

15871915_10100984458564591_4547495326843006339_n

This was a size 2T/3T and I had my friend’s little model try it on for me to make sure the sizing from the pattern was correct.  It turned out amazing and doesn’t she look so cute!  She’s repping her school with pride with that big ol’ grin!

15872023_10154895792803343_2745844653995796473_nSo I’ll be making a TON more of these in the upcoming months, I just got a bunch more fabric and a lot more shirts to use! I can’t wait to show them off.  If you’d be interested in one, go to my Etsy page or my Facebook page and message me!  If you have a shirt you’d like me to use, you can send it to me and a custom up-cycled dress can be made for you.

Upcycled kids clothing

So I’ve had an Etsy business for quite some time and I do lots of fun embroidery and vinyl things.  But I’ve wanted to try and make kids clothing for some time now.  Well I purchased a serger last month and I’ve made a few things and now that Christmas is over, I’m excited to try some new patterns out!

upcylcedblogI made this upcycled dress for my niece and it turned out so great! I found the shirt at a thrift store and went and got some matching fabrics to go along with it and turned it into a cute dress!  I found a bunch of other cute shirts at the thrift store that I can’t wait to try and make into cute outfits also.

My mom has been making these cute upcycled scarves for quite a while now and she took a break but lots of people have been asking for them again so she made some more this holiday season.

I’ll be posting what I make on my Facebook page but you can also follow along on my Pinterest page too and see my new ideas as they come to life!

So Santa brought you an Instant Pot for Christmas? Here’s what you need to know!

Santa was nice to you this year and brought you an Instant Pot for Christmas this year.  I’ve had mine since last year and I love it!!  It makes meal time so much easier especially when you want to make real food for your family and not the junk easy fast food you usually have time for.  I know what it’s like to have a chaotic lifestyle, I have 2 boys that eat tons and play lots of sports.  And with 2 businesses that we run out of our house, sometimes dinner time is not the easiest!  I love making hard boiled eggs, potato salad, roast and mashed potatoes in mine!  I’ve also made beef n broccoli and a few other yummy things too!!
You can also use your Instant Pot to make desserts.  I’ve made homemade cinnamon applesauce and I’ve also made an oreo cheesecake!!  This thing is amazing.  There are a few recipe pages out there that I read, I also read them on Pinterest and I have some groups on Facebook that I’m on that also help.
