Tie Dyed 4th of July shirts

So my sons wanted to be creative and make something over the long holiday weekend so we decided to make 4th of July tie dyed shirts to wear.  We made extras for other family members and it was so much fun!!

We went to Hobby Lobby and started out with white shirts and a 3 pack of dye.  We mostly only used the red and blue so we could be patriotic with our shirts.

We made shirts a few years ago courtesy of JoAnn Fabrics if you’d like to see them, click HERE

We searched the Internet for different patterns and found a couple different cool ones.  We tried a few different patterns but one turned out the best.

Let’s get started!  We twisted and bunched the shirts up to how we wanted our designs to turn out.  Next we started to put the dye on them.  Make sure you wear gloves or your hands will turn colors!!

We let them sit in the sun to dry and then rinsed them out to rinse the color out and then washed it in the washing machine.

We decided that the color on Caden’s turned out the best!

It’s a super easy project to do with your kids and they will love to wear their new shirts proudly! 🇺🇸

Been working on all sorts of fun stuff!

I haven’t gotten around to posting too often lately because between work, orders and kids’ sports, I haven’t had time!! But I have been making some super cute items for lots of people lately!!

I finally made my nephew a pillow for his birthday with his name. Since he just moved to his new room and loves anything with trains on it, I thought this was the perfect combination for him!  And he knew that it spelt his name too 🙂

Then a friend at work’s sister is getting married, and she saw a shirt similar to this online somewhere and asked if I could reproduce something simliar.  I think they turned out amazing!! It was a lot of work, because each color has to be done seperately, but in the end, it was worth it!  I can’t wait to see the whole group in their matching shirts! I even added the bride and groom’s name on the back and their wedding date for the bride to wear!  That way the rest of the pary can still wear this shirt any other time, and it won’t have personal information on it.

Wedding Season is also here!! I had an order for a group of glasses for a wedding party for their shower.  The girls are going to LOVE these cups.  I even minicked the colors of the wedding to make it all match!  I also put their names on the back of the cups, so they wouldn’t have any mixups!

I’ve also had a lot of other projects going on, and also, enjoying summer!! It was a LONG, HARD winter for us here in Michigan and so there will be no complaining about the heat/humidity/sunburns this year from us!!  Take it all in because we only get 3-4 good months of warm weather, the rest is colder.   We have a few camping trips scheduled this summer, also going to the lake house, and baseball games!!! What are your summer plans?? I’d love to hear them!!

Disney’s FROZEN Shirt

As you know, Disney’s Frozen is one of the most talked about movies right now.  All little girls want to watch it, sing it, talk like it, and dress like it!! Well I had a request to make the cutest shirt ever!  It’s of both Anna and Elsa together.

Frozen SistersThe mom and daughter that requested it are going to Disney World for spring break this year.  The little girl LOVES this shirt and said it was her favorite shirt ever!!  It did turn out super cute!

I also made a shirt for little sister, Minnie Mouse of course!

JoAnn Fabric and Craft Stores "Cape Discovery" Summer Crafting Challenge

I was asked by JoAnn Fabrics if I’d like to participate in a summer crafting project with my kids and add it to by blog.  My response “YES!”, I frequent JoAnn Fabrics at least once a week lately so with my kids home and in tow all the time, it was easy to get them to pick out something to do crafty!  Although a lot of the crafts are more on the girly side and I have 2 boys, we managed to find something to do!  Tie Dye Shirts! 🙂 If you’d like to sign up for a 20% off coupon, go to the link to do so!  www.joann.com/discover-‐connect

So we started the project with 2 shirts and the package of tie-dye.

The package had 5 colors of dye (Red, Orange, Blue, Green and Yellow) and 10 pairs of gloves and instruction guide.
We looked up patterns in the booklet and we tried to do one of them.  I’m not so sure how well it looks like the pattern, but hey, it worked!
 Ready, Set, TIE-DYE!

We didn’t read the directions as good as we should of because the shirts were supposed to be wet to start, so we had trouble getting the color to stick but it worked out in the end! Lesson learned for next time!

You have to let the shirts sit til they dry, so we left them outside on the table to soak up the sun!
Time to see what they look like!
Caden wasn’t very happy with his, he wanted his to look like Brody’s and it had too much white he said.  I told him, it’s really hard to make 2 shirts look exactly the same, so we can try another time.  🙂
After they were dry, we washed them in the machine and they tried them on, they loved them!!  I think we are going to do more shirts this year at family camping!! Along with a few other patterns with our cousins 🙂
