Snapshots Quilt Along- Block 2- Quilted Sewing Machine #fqssnapshots

So this Christmas break, I’m trying to use my time and be productive, since I don’t know how to just sit and watch tv and movies.  I have watched more than enough but while I’m doing it, I’ve been trying to think of things I can make at the same time.

I found a couple of projects to work on and I decided to finish one right now.  I have had my craft room for a few years now and I decided I should actually hang some decorations on the walls.  I have a corkboard that my mom made me and she spray painted the frame red so it’s not just a boring corkboard.  I also have a large pegboard with my thread hanging off pegs but that could use some more things hanging off it too.

I saw Camile Roskelley make a few mini quilts and she hangs them on her walls and they look so cute so I decided why not make a small quilt block sewing machine and I can quilt it and hang it on my wall as a decoration.

I didn’t follow her pattern, I found a free one online that I used.  It’s called the Snapshot Quilt Along and it was from quite a few years ago but I’m just using this one quilt right now.  I’ve only actually quilted with a pattern a few times. I’m more of a wing it type of person, I’ll make up the quilt as I go.  But this one turned out SO CUTE!!  If your interested in the pattern, the link below is what I followed.https://www.fatquartershop.com/media/blog/Snapshots/2-Snapshots-SewOnSewOn.pdf

I used a stripes pack so all the colors went together along with a few squares and then a fat quarter for the back and it didn’t take very long at all.  The fabric was made by Creative Cuts and the back fat quarter was Waverly. Now if you know me, I don’t really like to follow patterns.  But I actually did with this one.  Usually I just wing it and put it together and it works!  But this time I was actually trying to follow the piecing correctly so it came out right. It was a little bit crooked but hey, I’m still not an expert quilter like the ones I follow on Instagram.  I search #hashtags about quilts all the time and just drool over their perfect quilts.  Someday I’ll get to that status!!  I’d LOVE to have a long arm quilting machine.  SOMEDAY I can dream right?!  I love the colors and it matches my sewing room colors perfectly!  #fqssnapshotsI can’t wait to make other things to hang on my wall! I also bought some embroidery floss and some cross-stitch fabric and I’m going to make a cute little sewing machine in a hoop!

Pattern for that here- http://www.u-createcrafts.com/sewing-machine-crossstitch/
